Read this part first
Epic Universe opened in 2025 and it is still the newest major park in the world, which means two things:
- It is busy. Expect the heaviest crowds of your trip.
- The rules keep moving. Timed entry, virtual queues and Express eligibility have all changed since opening and may have changed again by the time you go.
Before your trip, check three things in the Universal app:
- Does your ticket include Epic Universe? A "3-park" ticket may not. This catches people out constantly.
- Does your date require timed entry? If so, book the slot the moment it opens.
- Which attractions are on virtual queue, and when the drops happen.
Do not turn up and improvise here in the way you can at the older parks.
The shape of the day
Five lands around a central hub, each committing completely to its own world: Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe (the classic Universal monsters), and Celestial Park in the middle.
The scale of it is the story. Nobody has opened a park this ambitious in a very long time, and the individual lands are better realised than anything at Disney built this century.
A full day, minimum. Two if you can spare them.
Rope drop and virtual queues
Get there early regardless — but the specific plan depends on which attractions are on virtual queue on your day.
The general approach:
- Join any virtual queue drop the moment it opens, from wherever you're standing. Have the app open and logged in beforehand.
- Walk to the land with the newest or highest-demand attraction and ride standby before the crowd distributes.
- Super Nintendo World often has its own entry system — check whether it needs a separate timed reservation on top of park entry.
Express Pass
Epic Universe has historically been treated differently from the other Universal parks for Express purposes — including for on-site hotel guests, whose free unlimited Express has not necessarily extended here.
Check this specifically rather than assuming your Premier hotel booking covers it. It's the most expensive assumption you can make at Universal.
When it storms
Being new, the park has generous covered walkways and modern queue design — better than the older parks. Celestial Park in the middle has substantial shelter, and most of the headline attractions are indoors. The live list below reflects what's in the app's catalogue.
Food
The dining here is a genuine step up from the older Universal parks, with more table service and better-executed themed food. Toadstool Café in Super Nintendo World is the one people queue for; the Ministry of Magic dining is the more interesting food.
Mobile order everything. The park is busy and counter queues are long.
Practical
- Parking is separate from the main Universal complex — you'll use a different garage and entrance from Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
- The park is large and quite spread out. Wear the good shoes.
- Heights are on the upper side across most of the headline attractions. The full current list is below.
